Titanium forged discs are solid round disc-shaped titanium forgings produced by open-die upsetting of titanium billets. A solid cylindrical titanium billet is placed between flat dies and compressed axially, causing the material to expand radially into a flat disc shape. This upsetting process refines the internal grain structure and offers better material yield compared to machining from a large-diameter round bar or thick plate cutout for disc-shaped components.
Feinuotai supplies forged titanium discs through three supply routes — available stock items, made-to-order forging production, and custom forging coordination for non-standard geometries. Each route has different lead time, minimum order and supply conditions.
The upsetting process used to produce forged titanium discs creates a distinctive grain structure. Understanding this grain orientation is important for applications involving stress loading and crack resistance.
The primary forming route for forged discs. A solid titanium billet is compressed axially between flat dies, expanding radially into a disc shape. Multiple upsetting passes may be required to reach the target diameter from a given starting billet size.
The axial compression and radial expansion of upsetting create a grain structure that is primarily radial in the disc face plane. This orientation is beneficial for components subjected to in-plane loading (such as flange faces) but should be reviewed for applications involving through-thickness stress.
Feinuotai supplies forged titanium discs through three distinct routes. Not every disc size or grade is available from stock — the appropriate supply route depends on your required diameter, thickness, grade, quantity and delivery schedule.
Selected standard forged discs in common sizes — primarily Grade 1, Grade 2 CP titanium discs in frequently requested diameter and thickness combinations. Stock items can be released quickly, typically 1–3 days for domestic shipment. Current stock dimensions and grades are subject to confirmation at inquiry.
Custom forged discs produced through standard upsetting production routes against customer drawings. Typical production completion time is approximately 5–10 days. Grade availability is reviewed against the disc geometry, forging requirement and quantity.
Non-standard disc geometries, extreme diameters or thicknesses, unusual grade combinations, or discs requiring additional operations (such as pre-machining, heat treatment or special inspection). Feinuotai manages the full supply process from drawing review through delivery.
Not every grade, diameter or thickness is held in stock. Stock availability is reviewed per inquiry.
Specify diameter, thickness and machining allowance per drawing.
Titanium forged discs are specified primarily by diameter and thickness. The forged blank is produced with extra stock on both the diameter and the faces to allow for final machining. The exact machining allowance depends on disc size, forging process and your required final tolerances.
Grade feasibility and supply route are reviewed per inquiry.
Grade availability for forged discs depends on the required disc diameter and thickness, forging requirement and quantity. Commercially pure grades (Grade 1, Grade 2) are the most commonly supplied grades for upset-disc forging and are available through all three supply routes. Alloy grades such as Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) require closer review of forging temperature windows and billet availability before feasibility can be confirmed.
Not every grade referenced in ASTM B381 is part of our current disc supply range. Please specify your required grade when submitting an inquiry.
Titanium forged discs supplied by Feinuotai reference ASTM B381 / B381M as the primary product standard. ASTM B381 specifies technical requirements for titanium and titanium alloy forgings, including solid disc forgings produced by open-die upsetting.
Additional or alternative specifications may be agreed per order where project requirements demand particular forging routes, heat treatment conditions or inspection criteria beyond ASTM B381. Please specify any additional standard requirements when submitting an inquiry.

Forged titanium discs serve as semi-finished starting blanks for disc-shaped components where a solid disc is more efficient than a ring or block form. Common downstream components include flanges (weld neck, slip-on and blind types), valve bodies and bonnets, gear blanks, shaft ends, bearing housings, turbine discs and circular structural supports. The upset-forging grain structure makes forged discs suitable for in-plane loading applications across chemical process, marine and general machinery industries.
