Titanium flange bolts and flange nuts feature an integrated circular flange — a flat bearing disc built directly into the hex head (bolts, DIN 6921) or the bottom face of the nut (nuts, DIN 6923). This eliminates the need for a separate flat washer, reducing joint component count from three pieces (bolt + washer + nut) to two or even one (flange bolt + plain nut, or plain bolt + flange nut). Many flange heads and nuts also feature a serrated (toothed) bearing face that creates a metal-toothed lock against the mating surface to resist loosening under vibration.

Commonly referenced to DIN 6921 (flange bolts) and DIN 6923 (flange nuts). ISO 4162 and ISO 4161 are international equivalents. Feinuotai supplies both in Grade 2 CP titanium and Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V alloy. Metric M5–M20 coordinated.

Product Range & Specifications

DIN 6921 (bolts) & DIN 6923 (nuts) commonly referenced.

F

Flange Configuration

Integrated circular bearing flange under bolt head (DIN 6921) and nut base (DIN 6923). Serrated face available for anti-loosening. Plain (non-serrated) flange also supplied.

H

Head / Nut Type

Six-sided hex drive. Head height reduced compared to standard DIN 933 hex bolts due to flange integration.

TH

Thread Forms

Metric coarse & fine pitch. Fully threaded bolts — flange bolts are DIN 6921, not partial thread.

M

Metric Dimensions

Standard Range: M5–M20 (DIN 6921 / 6923). Lengths per DIN series.
Custom Supply: M4, M24+, custom serration profile, cut-to-length.
Stock Availability: M6–M12 in Gr2 & Gr5 (both plain and serrated flange).

G

Grade Options

Regular: Grade 2 (CP Ti) & Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V alloy).
Coordinated: Grade 1, Grade 7, Grade 9, Grade 23 — subject to order quantity.
Note: Serrated flange face creates a positive mechanical lock against the mating surface — do not use serrated flange bolts / nuts where a smooth mating surface is required (e.g. machined or polished parts).

S

Standard References

DIN 6921 (hex flange bolt), DIN 6923 (hex flange nut). ISO 4162 / ISO 4161 international equivalents.

X

Custom Manufacturing

Custom serration profile (fine / coarse / custom tooth geometry), non-standard flange OD, special thread pitches, dry-film-lubricated variants and coatings coordinated per drawing.

P

Packaging

Bag / box / wooden case per request. Bulk, small-lot and export packaging supported.

Typical Application Areas

A

Automotive & EV

Compact assembly, reduced bolt count in battery pack and chassis applications.

M

Motorsports & Performance

Light-weight high-strength assemblies with vibration-resistant serrated flange.

I

Industrial Equipment

Reduced part count and consistent load distribution in machinery assembly.

C

Chemical Process

Corrosion-resistant joint with fewer crevices than three-piece bolt-washer-nut assemblies.

Quality & Documentation

Material test certificates, dimensional verification (flange OD, serration profile, hex size, thread, length) and surface finish documentation available per order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Flange bolt + nut vs hex bolt + washer + nut — which is better?

Flange bolt + flange nut: fewer components (2 vs 3), consistent load distribution, serrated face provides vibration resistance. Higher strength-to-diameter ratio due to larger flange bearing area.
Hex bolt + washer + nut: more standard and widely available, less tool-specific. Use when the mating surface must remain smooth (no serration teeth), or when a larger flange OD is required than the flange bolt provides. Specify your preference.

What does "serrated" mean on a flange bolt?

The bearing face of the flange has sharp radial teeth (serrations). When tightened against a metal mating surface, these teeth bite into the surface creating a positive mechanical lock that resists loosening under vibration and dynamic loads. Specify "serrated" or "plain" flange at inquiry — plain flanges have a smooth bearing face and do not provide this locking action.

Can I use a hex washer under a flange bolt?

No — the flange itself is the bearing face. Adding a washer under the flange head causes the flange to bear against the washer (which is not designed for serrated engagement), reducing the load distribution advantage. If you need a different bearing diameter than the flange provides, consider using a standard hex bolt with a larger-diameter flat washer instead.
